A third of employees are disappointed by their employer's failure to take steps to reduce the businesses environmental impact, according to a new survey.
More than 80 per cent of respondents also told the MSN Environment website that they wanted their workplace to introduce environmental policies to manage energy efficiency and waste.
Respondents said they most wanted their bosses to install recycling bins and smart lights which switched off when rooms were empty as well as making computers shut down automatically.
MSN Environment's Nicole Thomas said: "Our study clearly shows that many British workers are thinking green and want their employers to go the extra mile as far as environmental policies are concerned.
"However, we all need to realise that it's our own efforts that count as well - if everyone makes a few small changes, it can make a big difference in the long run."
Alun Jones from the Energy Saving Trust said that more and more businesses were turning to the body for advice.
He added: "We are advising more and more businesses who have approached us for help, and the advice we give is then cascaded down to staff."
